The evening we were discussing and you managed to open my soul and tears started to run from my eyes and then I felt this relief in my heart for the first time

He is the master of showing us the illusions in which we all live all the time
I went into Seb’s retreat with no real idea about meditation, the real self, being present, or what it meant to be ‘lost in thought’. I left with a completely different perspective. I now understand meditation as a way of training the mind to step back from the conditioned self of “Kai” and observe life from the real self. I can now deeply meditate, catch myself drifting into thought, and experience life with more clarity. I taste food more deeply, hear sounds more vividly, and notice the details in life I used to miss.
Seb’s deep understanding of spiritual philosophy, and his amazing talent for expressing it in words, is something truly special. It’s a gift to be in his presence.
Even on the last evening of the retreat (only five days in) - a simple trip to a restaurant became an unbelievable experience. I’d never noticed the details and beauty of architecture like that before. The restaurant had hanging lights, and I’d never seen colours so vivid. Every bite of food was bursting with flavour.
Since the retreat, I understand the real self - not just my ego or conditioned self. I’ve realised how much time I used to spend lost in thought about the past or the future, chasing happiness in a never-ending cycle. Now I spend far more time present, actually observing the movie of life playing out in front of me.
This change has completely transformed how I experience life. I notice so much more - the details in my surroundings, the colours, the little things I used to walk past without seeing. I taste, see, and hear more. I watch the sunrises, sunsets, and the clouds in the sky, and everything feels deeper.
Another huge part of this was Seb’s incredible understanding of the body and meditation. He teaches how to release tension through simple self-massage, how to connect the body and breath with yoga movements, and how breathwork can reset your whole system. And then there’s his meditation, which is simple yet so powerful. He has a way of explaining and guiding it that makes it feel natural, effortless, and deeply effective.
When I’m on holiday or even just having days out, I can happily spend the day getting lost. I notice the details in buildings, the colours, and the atmosphere around me in a way I never did before. A recent example was on holiday last week. The group I was with wanted to jump in a cab back to the hotel, but I just couldn’t do it. I was so taken in by everything around me - the lights, the buildings, the people - I said I’d walk a bit and grab a cab later. I ended up walking nearly two hours through the city at night, just enjoying it all, completely in awe of the surroundings. It was such an amazing experience. Whereas before, I’d have been straight in the cab, back to the hotel, without thinking twice about it.
This experience has given me so much more life to live - more moments, fewer distractions. It’s nothing short of life-changing.
I can honestly say this retreat was a turning point in my life, and I’m so grateful to have crossed paths with Seb and for everything he’s shared. I look forward to future retreats and all the moments still to come.
